Your Book - Week 2 Zoom Notes
To start off Week 2, we firstly had a lecture based on 'Photography and Remembrance' in which focused purely on how death is shown through photography. He showed and spoke about Daguerreotype's which, when used in the 1800's, seemed to focus around death and showing people who are about to die. One of the images that drew me in was the 'Anonymous Collective Images from American Post Office' created in 1864. This collective image was photos of the solider in which they keep on themselves because if they sadly pass away, people will go around picking the photos up and taking them to a post office so that families can find out.
Many more artists were spoken about such as Henry Peach Robinson and Elizabeth Hayert as well as speaking about most recent ways death is shown in photography in a more emotional way such as 9/11 wall of remembrance.
Part 2 of this weeks zoom sessions consisted of us being put into break out rooms to talk to each tutor separately about our ideas so far. One by one we all spoke to our tutors about our ideas and when it came to me, I had to explain that due to the 3rd lockdown, my idea unfortunately can 't be continued on as I am not able to travel to accommodation and have students available to help out. Though this is the case, I was able to create a brainstorm with some other ideas I had in my mind and would be able to complete with the lockdown and told Chris firstly that I was more interested in going down the food photography route and experience that specialism more. Each tutor thought it would be interesting to see what I could do as to many families, cooking/food, dinner etc is one of the most important times at the moment.
Though I still haven't got a solid idea, I have been able to narrow down the route in which I want to take as well as giving myself the opportunity to create another brainstorm based on food photography ideas and research more into what I could do.

Geraint firstly spoke about workbooks and how we could use project tags to organise our posts more so that the tutors know its either research, practice or the publish side. He also spoke about what I could do to plan this term a lot more such as looking at layouts and time frames which will really help me moving forward.
